It is best to take your cortisol levels test early in the morning.
Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal gland, which is located on top of the kidneys. It is often referred to as the "stress hormone" because it is released in response to stress, but cortisol also plays a role in regulating a wide range of physiological processes in the body, including blood sugar levels, immune system function, metabolism and blood pressure. Cortisol levels naturally fluctuate throughout the day, with higher levels in the morning and lower levels in the evening. In addition to stress, factors such as exercise, caffeine, and certain medications can also affect cortisol levels.
A cortisol diagnostic test that measures the level of cortisol in your system. While cortisol testing can be done with blood, urine, or saliva tests, a blood cortisol test is the most common and accurate method. Cortisol plays a key role in regulating your body's response to stress, and abnormal cortisol levels can indicate a variety of health problems.
All blood tests are processed in a UK-based laboratory and all tests are compliant with the European Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC (Article 12) and the European in Vitro Diagnostic Directive 98/79/EC.
